6th month check-ups
Had check-up last week with my OB. Time flies by so fast! I’m on my 6th month already!
As usual, the routine would be to listen to Baby Wopwop’s heartbeat through the fetal doppler. Heartbeat is at 151bpm. She also measured the fundal height which is at 25cm. My belly’s not too big but that’s OK. OB wants to avoid having a big baby.
The doctor noticed I had cough and colds. It has been a couple of days already and there’s still a bit of phlegm (sorry TMI). I had dry cough and sometimes I have a hard time breathing through my nose. The doctor prescripted Muconase (saline solution nasal spray) so my nose wouldn’t be as congested, as well as Fluimucil (like an alka seltzer which you put into water to dissolve) for my phlegm. She also advised me to take lots of water and increase my vitamin C intake.
I really hate getting sick, specially now that I’m pregnant. I really hope that our baby is doing just fine. Anyway, I’m a bit better now, konting sniffles na lang…
So far my pregnancy is progressing well naman. I just have to make sure to monitor my food intake so I wouldn’t get big too much to avoid having CS. I also need to monitor my sugar more closely, specially lately when it seems to be shooting up (which is a bit expected at this phase due to the placenta, as explained by my endocrinologist). This morning, my FBS was at 81 which was at a normal level. But after 1 hr of eating 2 pandesal and 2 hotdogs, my blood sugar was at 155 already! Max limit was supposed to be 130! Crazy blood sugar!
I was supposed to go to my scheduled monthly check-up with my endocrinologist last week but opted to just stay home for the mean time and rest since my cough and colds were taking a toll on me. I finally saw her today. She corrected my insulin dosages since my sugar is starting to go crazy again. But she didn’t want to increase it too much and just advised to adjust the types of food that I eat. I would have to get my Hba1C again in 2 weeks and go back to her. As my pregnancy progresses, she wants to monitor my sugar more closely so as to avoid complications.
It can be a bit tiring going to check-ups but I know it’s for my own good as well as our baby’s. I’m thankful that our checkups are covered by my husband’s medical card. That’s a big blessing specially now that I would need to have to go to my doctors every 2 weeks already instead of once a month!
